Eligibility

 

Parents of high school student-athletes between the years of  2000 to 2014 at La Vernia High School are eligible to complete the parent engagment survey.  

 

This includes:

- Mother

- Father

- Step-Mother

- Step-Father

 

Format

 

The survey is broken down into three sections for each student-athlete: 

 

1) Student-Athlete Information

- Gender

- Sports Teams Selected To (Freshman, Junior Varsity and Varsity)

- Year of Graduation

 

2) Sports Specific Survey

A survey for each sport the student-athlete was selected to participate in (example: Junior Varsity Football, Freshman Basketball)

 

Parents are asked to identify which statement on a 5-Point Likert Scale (1 - Strongly Disagree to 5 - Strongly Agree) reflects their feelings towards the following statements:

 

1. The head coach had adequate knowledge of the rules, skills and strategies our team needed to compete

2. The head coach communicated well with my child

3. The head coach communicated well with me

4. The head coach cares about my child as a person

5. The head coach helped players to develop their individual skills

6. The head coach taught the importance of fairness and sportsmanship

7. The head coach focused on my child’s grades and academics

8. The head coach fostered a strong sense of team unity

9. The head coach kept other aspects of student life in perspective with athletic requirements

10. The head coach was a positive role model 

 

 

3) Athletic Department Survey

A single Athletics Department Survey asks parents to identify which statement on a 5-Point Likert Scale (1 - Strongly Disagree to 5 - Strongly Agree) reflects their feelings towards the following statements:

 

1. The athletic director was accessible and helpful

2. The athletic director promptly addressed my issues and concerns

3. The athletic director presented clear goals for the Athletic Department

4. The athletic director communicated clearly the Mission Statement of the Athletics Department

5. The athletic director supports all athletics programs

6. The athletic website is organized and easy to navigate

7. The athletic director was clearly visible at athletic events

8. The athletic director communicates well with parents
