MEN'S BASKETBALL ROSTER OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

After two days of tryouts, attended by over 50 prospects, San Antonio College Men's Basketball has announced 17 student-athletes have made the final roster for the 2017/2018 Season.

​

The final roster is comprised of 11 Freshman and 6 Sophomores, representing Texas Cities: San Antonio, Houston, Conroe, Beaumont, Rosenberg, and Peoria, AZ and Baltimore, MD.  The following Majors are represented: Criminal Justice, Digital Arts, Architecture, Biomedical Sciences, Psychology, Kinesiology, Music, Business, Civil Engineering, Sports Management and Emergency Management and Homeland Security Aviation.  The team includes players with previous NCAA and NJCAA experience as well as Texas UIL 4A - 6A and TAPPS programs.

Men's Basketball Head Coach Sam Casey has high expectations for the team who begin practice on Monday, September 11th at the Candler Physical Education Center, "The energy level is through the roof and the experience level is solid," echoing previous comments, "we were looking for leaders and players who were willing to sacrifice, each member of our team displayed that 'it' factor you're looking for as a coach, they're hungry, very hungry so it's time to get to work so we can eat!"

Due to Hurricane Harvey, the conference schedule is being reviewed and will be announced in the coming days.  A new tradition is set to officially be announced shortly, with the "Red/White Open Scrimmage" set to tip-off on Wednesday, September 27th from 6-8pm in The Candler.  Coach Casey noted Women's Basketball Head Coach Hayley Capestany will coach one group from the men's team while he will coach the other.  It will be the first time students and the general public will have a chance to see the 2017/2018 Rangers in action.  Coach Casey said we can expect a lot more collaboration with the women's program moving forward, "Coach Capestany is an outstanding coach and an excellent role model to all students on our campus.  I'm looking forward to working with her and learning from her this season, I know our team will benefit greatly from having her on the sidelines at the Red/White Scrimmage."
